Fly Fishing Is Different Than Traditional Forms Of Fishing

Unlike traditional fishing, where the angler must use a hook attached to a worm or any other form of bait, fly fishing is different because an artificial fly must be used. The artificial fly used in fly fishing may have some feather, fur, foam or yarn attached to it, and this then becomes the ‘fly’.

Dry fly fishing is the most popular form of fly fishing, and it is where an artificial fly is cast, which then floats on the water. The idea is that when the fly floats over a fish, the fish will try and bite the fly, resulting in the angler making a catch.

With dry fly fishing, everything is visible. Dry fly fishing is popular with anglers because they can see the fly as it floats on the water. The angler can also see the fish biting the fly. However, when angling for trout as well as other fish it is common for those kinds of fish to feed beneath the surface of the water and so dry fly fishing will not be suitable.
